Nothing tells you what our legislature is like so much as these two adjacent headlines today:

• Senate confirms Roberts as chief justice: OK, so the Senate is moving, within constitutional boundaries, to eliminate things like the right to privacy and legal abortion...
• House Republican leader indicted in campaign finance conspiracy: ...but the House is just corrupt.
